RiverFest, hosted by the Lackawanna River Conservation Association (LRCA), will be held on Saturday, May 20. Paddlers will take to the water and revelers will fill the banks of the Lackawanna River for a day of exercise and fun. The event features:
- Canoe-A-Thon: a timed race on the Lackawanna River from launch sites at Archbald and Blakely to the finish line at Sweeney’s Beach Recreation Area off 40 Poplar Street in Scranton
- Regatta: A free fun competition open to all — Create a vessel that can navigate the Lackawanna River from the Poplar Street Bridge to Sweeney’s Beach.
- Duck-A-Thon: The LRCA flock of duckies launch upstream of Sweeney’s Beach into the waters of the Lackawanna for an exciting race to the finish.
