Hosted by The University of Scranton Office of Community Relations, Global Tastes of Scranton: Syrian Women Share Their Culture will be held on Saturday, October 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple, 420 N. Washington Ave., Scranton. Members of the Syrian refugee community will create a “pop-up restaurant” sharing their home cuisine and traditions. A sampling of authentic Syrian fare will be served, including kabsa, kibbeh, grape leaves, hummus, tabbouleh, & for dessert- Halawet El Jibn! Vegatarian options are available.
The event will also include highlights of Syrian culture with special music and dance performances, and information about the current refugee crisis. Proceeds will benefit refugee resettlement efforts by Catholic Social Services and future Global Tastes of Scranton events. Tickets are $35 per person.
