Bike Carbondale Kicks off in the “Pioneer City”!

Biking the North End of the LRHT!

Lackawanna Heritage Valley has partnered with two sites in the City of Carbondale to promote another free BikeShare program in the Lackawanna Valley. The program operates the same way as the BikeScranton program, which is now in its 4th year. The two sites that have bikes available in Carbondale are the Greater Carbondale YMCA, and the Hotel Anthracite. Both sites are located on Main Street three blocks from each other. The program is free and open to the public, all the rider needs to do is fill out a waiver and the site will make a copy of their photo ID.

Bicyclists are encouraged to check out the new section of trail along the Carbondale Riverwalk, and as the summer continues more and more trail will be opened up to the north of Carbondale. Hopefully by the fall, people will be able to get on a bike in Carbondale and ride 20 miles north to Ararat Township along the D&H Rail-Trail.
