Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area (LHV) will host a Ribbon Cutting ceremony marking the grand opening of the Scranton Half Marathon Pavilion at the Olive Street Trailhead. Members of the community are invited to the event on Thursday, November 9, at 3 p.m. Public officials, LHV staff and board members, and community leaders will attend.
The 38’ by 60’ pavilion is located at the entrance of the Scranton Riverwalk at the Olive Street Trailhead, a popular site for the start of dozens of annual charity races and walks. Civic organizations and community partners may rent the pavilion for a nominal daily fee for community events and educational programs. Rental fees will be used to help defray pavilion maintenance costs.
This project is a result of community support and collaboration. Presented by the Scranton Half Marathon, additional funders include: ESSA Bank & Trust Charitable Foundation; Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield; Lackawanna County Community Re-Invest Program Under the Administration of The Lackawanna County Commissioners; Margaret Briggs Foundation; Peoples Security Charitable Foundation; Sanofi Pasteur; and the Willary Foundation.
