Bicycle enthusiasts have been enjoying weekly Group Rides on the Trail all summer, and now they have the opportunity to ride with friends twice a week. Lackawanna Heritage Valley is expanding the program to include Sunday morning rides.
Riders of all skill levels are invited to participate on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and on Sundays at 9 a.m. through September. All rides are held weather permitting. Ken Leibold will lead the hour-long tours.
On Wednesdays in August, riders should meet in the parking lot of Blakely Borough Recreational Complex, on the corner of Keystone Avenue and River Street, in Peckville. The group will ride north along the trail and then loop back to their starting point. Click here for directions.
On Sundays in August, riders should meet at the Trailhead on Delaware Street in Jermyn at 9 a.m. The group will ride to Carbondale and back. Please note: the Jerymn to Carbondale route includes riding on streets. Click here for directions.
Routes for the September rides will be announced soon. There is no fee to participate, but riders should bring their own bicycles and helmets. Riders of all skill levels are welcome.
