Celebrating ‘Art in Nature’ at First Friday

Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area (LHV) recently hosted a community art contest in search of original, nature-themed artwork from people of all ages in the region. The response was overwhelming with nearly 100 entries submitted.

Art in Nature, an exhibit featuring all contest entries, will be on display at First Friday, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center, 100 Adams Avenue, downtown Scranton. Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m.

In honor of Earth Week (April 16-22), winning designs will be transformed into 20 educational panels inside the Fidelity Fishing at the Nay Aug Avenue Natural Play Area in the Green Ridge section of Scranton. The first of its kind in Pennsylvania, the play area is built primarily with materials found in nature. The Fidelity Fishing Shack, a small clubhouse, is among the most popular features of the park.
